Sermon Notes | March 5, 2017

We need to recognize that the day of the Lord will come! Don't doubt it.

No matter what people say or how much they doubt God, we need to know that God will fulfill his promise.

2 Peter 3:10-14

2 Peter 3:10-14

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

God's word, His spoken words, is powerful. God will speak and intervene in our world.

  1. The Word of God is holding everything together but judgment is coming.
  2. The only reason He hasn't come yet is because He's patient and waiting for more people to be saved.
  3. Its not that we're trying to scare people but we are trying to warn them. People need to take heed and respond to the drawing of God now while they can. Time will run out.
  4. Jesus' return is going to be sudden, unexpected and without warning. We need to get right, right now. We need to look for Him.
  5. When we recognize that Jesus is coming back soon, it motivates us to focus on what's important and set aside everything else.
  6. The wrath of God is not on my life when I've received Jesus Christ as my saviour and Lord.
  7. The wrath of God is not on my life when I've received Jesus Christ as my saviour and Lord.
  8. We need to make sure that we don't allow the affairs of this life to distract us from the fact that Jesus is coming again.
  9. When you get saved, your life does not belong to you anynore. You don't make the decisions about how you live anymore.
  10. As we walk with God and follow Him, He will give us the BEST He has for us. Remember that His best for me is going to be different from His best for another person.
