I am HIS priest

April 2, 2017

Everything that has breath ought to praise the Lord as the first thing we do everyday.
All creation gives God praise and we should do the same thing.

Exodus 19:5-6    1 Peter 2:9

Exodus 19:5-6

5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

1 Peter 2:9

9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

We are a chosen generation, a peculiar people.

  • We're not like everyone else.
  • God defines us as a nation/race that He has separated.
  • He separates us so that we don't get contaminated and stray away from Him.
  • Those that God has separated should not mingle again with the world because we are different, not better.

God has saved us because He has a collective purpose for us.

  1. God has adopted us, He chose us.
  2. He stopped, passed over others, and chose us.
  3. We weren't chosen because of something we did but because of who He is.
  4. We should not take this honor for granted.
  5. He has a purpose for us.

God has consecrated us to himself.

  1. We are His possession.
  2. The struggle we have is trusting Him.
  3. God is looking for us to be devoted to Him.
  4. Are you devoted to God?
  5. Jesus said we cannot serve two masters.

We are all born in sin.

  1. Good people or bad people are the same.
  2. They all have the wrath of God on their life and the only way to get this off is by trusting in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
  3. When the wrath of God is on you, God can't give you what He wants you to have.

As a priesthood our job is to offer sacrifices of praise to God continuously.

  1. When we are in church, we're not here to be a spectator we are here to participate.
  2. No matter how we feel, whether we feel worthy or not, capable or not, God says to offer sacrifices.
  3. We are all kingly priests who are supposed to offer sacrifices, despite how we feel or what we want to do.
  4. We need to always operate according to the title that has been bestowed upon us.

Like the first ladies who inherited their role because of their husbands, we need to walk in our office of priest because God made us priests.

  1. This position has nothing to do with whether or not we deserve the role or have earned it. .
  2. We are different.
  3. Never let "where you are influence who you are."
  4. Whether people accept you or not in your role doesn't matter, you just have to walk in your role.

In the NBA draft some people show up expecting to be called but sometimes it doesn't happen.

  1. We need to thank God that we were called and not passed over.
  2. God chose us when we were filthy and in sin and then He cleaned us up.
  3. He called us when we were weak, vile and undesirable.
  4. He took us and said that He wants us as His special possession, His chosen honored people.

This is all so that we can show forth the praises, virtues and excellency of God.

  1. Like the priests in the Catholic church who always have their priestly garments on anywhere they go, we need to remember that we are priests, called out and sent by God, every place we go.
  2. Everywhere we go we need to show forth the praises of God.
  3. We belong to God all the time not just on Sundays.
