Days Of Refreshing

June 25, 2017

Repent, submit, and renew :
the pattern we see in the scriptures that God uses in our development and growth.

Acts 3:18-21

Acts 3:18-21

18 But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

This is Peter's second message after Pentecost.

  • Just as people grow physically, Christians grow spiritually.
  • We are constantly in the realm or the process of God convicting us, leading us and changing us by the Holy Spirit.
  • The Holy spirit will bring a spiritual dissatisfaction, hunger or thirst for more of God.
  • This keeps us from becoming complacent.

There will also be times of refreshing.

  1. We have to be honest however for the Holy Spirit to help us.
  2. We have to be honest with ourselves and not blame others.
  3. As long as I'm alive and living in the day of the Spirit, God can continue to work with me no matter how many mistakes I've made or things that haven't gone right.

Times of refreshing means a period of revival, a cooling to relieve trouble or for one to catch their breath.

  1. It starts with repentance.
  2. Peter preached repentance as the key.
  3. It's an ongoing process, not just a one time thing.
  4. Repentance- to change directions or to change one's mind about a matter.
  5. Everytime we repent release is brought to our life!

Our prayer to God should be that we remain hungry and discontent with the place we are in God.

  1. We need to want more of Him everyday.
  2. God blots out or obliterates our sins.
  3. There are only a few parties that remember our past - People that Satan uses and ourselves.

Today is the day of refreshing!

  1. Today we need to repent and turn away, forget our past and move forward into what God wants to do in us and through us.
  2. The woman at the well, after she was "touched" by Jesus, forgot about her past and went and testified about Him.
  3. She was renewed, refreshed and ready to move forward in her life.

Today is the day of refreshing!

  1. If you hear His voice come to Him.
  2. We need to hunger and thirst for this.
  3. We need to be in expectation of this touch and this refreshing.
  4. We see the commitment to waiting on God reflected in the actions of the disciples in the Upper Room.
  5. They waited in expectation.

There are many fillings.

  1. The disciples were filled multiple times.
  2. Our prayer is, "Lord fill me again and again. I want my cup to run over. I want to be refreshed."
