First Born

April 16, 2017

Our sole occupation as priests is to offer praise and give thanks to God.
Don't forget that we should not be worried about anything.
Instead pray and give thanks to God; then the peace of God will be with you.

Philippians 4:6-7    1 Peter 2:9-11

Philippians 4:6-7

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus,

1 Peter 2:9-10

9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Anything other than Praise and Thanksgiving that we are carrying doesn't look good on us.
We should not be carrying around anything else. No worry, no anxiety. Only thanksgiving.

  • When we say "thank you" we are saying Lord you are in control.
  • When we say "thank you" we are saying I belong to you.
  • When we say "thank you" we are saying God is working.

No matter what our circumstances or situation are my confession is that I belong to God.

  1. And because I belong to God, He is in control.
  2. We need to make sure that we have the right attitude no matter what the reports are.
  3. We need to live in expectancy of God working.

Easter Sunday doesn't exist in the Bible.

  1. Everyday is a day to give thanks for Jesus rising from the dead.
  2. Easter was a pagan holiday that the church adopted.
  3. As Christians we give thanks everyday at all times. "Keep Your Eyes on Jesus"

The firstborn was a significant position to be in in a family.

  1. The firstborn had rights, a certain rank and a particular prominence.
  2. Jesus being the first born from the dead is significant because it signifies his preeminence and providence.

When the Bible says that we've been saved it means that our sins are already forgiven and we are made alive.

  1. Our spirit is alive; that's what makes us different.
  2. We now have a connection (i.e. we can talk to Him and He hears us) with God because we are spiritually alive.

When the Bible says we are bring saved its talking about sanctification.

  1. Sanctification and transformation is the journey of all Christians.
  2. To allow sanctification in our life we have to yield.
  3. If you're saved you have to be sanctified.

Our hope and faith is that we will have a new body one day when Jesus returns.

  1. There is only one person in the history of mankind who can claim that He died, was buried, rose again and still lives.
  2. That's Jesus.  Jesus is the only one who is still alive.
  3. Buddha is not. Muhammad is not. Confucius is not. Do your research and find out for yourself.
  4. Before the end of the day go home, look in the mirror at your body and thank God that you are going to get a new body,
